As the first LEED-ND Platinum-certified master plan development in the country and the only one in Hawaiʻi, Ward Village is at the forefront of sustainable community development and will feature public amenities at a scale not offered by any other urban development in the state. Working with the Hawaiʻi Community Development Authority, the PBR HAWAII & Associates team prepared and developed the Planned Development Permit (PDP) on behalf of the Howard Hughes Corporation.
Creating an illustration and graphic pattern to represent Victoria Ward's old plantation home and its roots to old Hawaiʻi involved a delicate blend of historical research and artistic interpretation. The design aimed to capture the essence of the plantation era, incorporating elements such as traditional Hawaiian architecture, lush tropical foliage, and subtle nods to the diverse cultural influences that shaped the region.
Through intricate linework and vibrant colors, the illustration evokes a sense of nostalgia and reverence for the rich history of Victoria Ward's estate, serving as a visual homage to its place in Hawaiʻi's past. The graphic pattern features motifs inspired by the plantation era, weaving together a tapestry of heritage and legacy.
